This is a handmade genuine Ontario amethyst and Lake Superior slate stone inuksuk. It is 3" height and absolutely beautiful. Each piece is made locally and each is unique. The Story of the Inuksuk (pronounced IN_OOK_SHOOK) Meaning "in the image of man" the inuksuk are magnificent lifelike figures of stone which were erected by the Inuit people and are found in the Canadian artic. Standing alone along Canada's most Northern shores, they endure as profound symbols of leadership, encouraging the importance of friendship and reminding us of our dependance upon one another. The traditional meaning of an Inuksuk was as a compass or guide for a safe journey. Erected to make the way easier and safer for those who follow, an Inuksuk represented food and nourishment, trust and reassurance. They are also part of the 2010 Olympic symbol in Vancouver!
