WHERE TO STAY
We love our area, and we want you to come and experience for yourself how pristine and beautiful the North Shore of Lake Superior really is! The lake and surrounding countryside is spectacular during any season, and with numerous outdoor activities available all year round, there is no time like the present to book a stay at one of the areas' numerous hotels, cottages, or campgrounds!
Here are a few that we recommend:
VOYAGEURS' LODGE AND COOKHOUSE
Located only a short drive from our stores, The Voyageurs' Lodge and Cookhouse offers a wonderful stay for families with a casual and fun dining atmosphere. In their words "Enjoy genuine Northern Ontario hospitality overlooking beautiful Batchawana Bay on Lake Superior's Heritage Shore". The Voyageurs' Lodge and Cookhouse is the ideal base camp for any vacation. It has a newly renovated restaurant, clean rooms, delicious home cooked meals and a wonderful view of Batchawana Bay. Family-owned and operated, we recommend them at any time of the year for your family visit.
LAKE SHORE SALZBURGER HOF RESORT
We highly recommend the family owned and operated Lake Shore Salzburger Hof resort! Tucked away on a large secluded property right on the shore of Batchawana Bay, Lake Shore Resort has it all! The ultimate in comfort, one can find a licensed dining lounge (the most consistently amazing food you'll ever have), tennis court, shuffleboard, basketball, horse-shoe pitch, barbeque areas, and a bon-fire area overlooking Lake Superior. Lake Shore Resort is listed in "Where to eat in Canada", (only 500 restaurants are chosen for this prestige from Coast to Coast), and they offer delicious breakfast and lunches in their pavillon as well as more formal dining in their main lounge. They offer motel rooms, motel suites, housekeeping studios, one and two bedroom suites as well as two and three bedroom chalets for those family visits. Very reasonably priced, your stay at the Lakeshore Resort will be one of those experiences that stays in your mind forever.
PANCAKE BAY PROVINCIAL PARK
Pancake Bay Provincial Park is located only 1 km from our stores, and we cannot say enough about it! Voted as one of the top 10 parks in Ontario according to "The Canadian Geographic", it offers over 350 campsites, including group camping, and electrical sites. For those less "tent-friendly" visitors, it also has "Yurts", which are tent-like structures installed on a wooden floor. Each yurt features a table with four chairs, an electric heater for those cool nights, an interior shelf, an interior outlet, two bunk beds, a barbeque, dining tent with a picnic table and an outstanding view. With 3.2 kms of the most pristine sand beach in Ontario, Pancake Bay Provincial Park offers the most amazing family friendly camping experience you could want. Facilities include outdoor theatre, recycling, comfort stations, laundry services, and watercraft rentals. Within the park there are also two nature trails: the Pancake Bay Nature Trail follows the coast of Lake Superior into the interior of the park in a 3.5 km loop and the second, the Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout 14 km trail, which climbs to two lookouts overlooking fantastic views of Pancake Bay and Lake Superior. Please make sure that you visit this beautiful park at least once in your life!
